Show Table of ContentsThere are a number of state-specific forms you may need when going through the probate process.
General Forms
In Rhode Island, each town has its own probate court. You can use this list of municipal websites to help find the court (select the town you want, click their website link, and look for the Probate Court information), or just do a local probate search. If you just want to contact the court directly, you can use this Summary Contact List.
You can check with your local court for the forms they might prefer, and below you will find some of the more common RI forms:
- Petition for Probate of Will (Form PC-1.5) - Get the probate process started if there is a will
- Administration Petition (Form PC-1.1) - Get the probate process started if there is no will
- Notice of Probate (Form PC-9.9) - Notify interested parties that you have begun probate
- Affidavit of Notice to Creditors (Form PC-10.14) - Tell court you have notified creditors
- Supplemental Inventory (Form PPC-10.4) - Report estate contents not included in initial Petition
- Account (Form PC-7.1) - Estate financial report (consider attaching EstateExec Accounting Report)
- Order of Distribution (Form PC-10.3) - Request permission to distribute estate
- Release (Form PC-7.7) - Get receipts from inheritors
- Complete Administration (Form PC-7.3) - Tell the court in a closing statement that you are finished with your duties
